Data converters

Data converters are one of the key components in any sensor or communication system where an interface to external world is needed. This task will address design of efficient and innovative analog-to-digital converter IP exploiting FDSOI features.

Challenges addressed:

Fraunhofer IIS will develop a high frequency low voltage continuous-time Delta-Sigma ADC suitable for example for RADAR applications. For this an analog to digital conversion for the intermediate frequency with a high accuracy is needed. Digital filters after the delta sigma modulator will convert the high-speed (~1Gs) digital data stream in a high resolution 15-bit data stream with 40 MS/s. In the present project, an IP-core in 22nm FDSOI technology will be designed.

IC Logic will jointly develop the 40 MS/s High-Dynamic Range ADC with Fraunhofer IIS. IC-Logic is specialist in Digital Design and is in charge to design the very high speed (GHz) and low power digital filters for this high speed delta-sigma ADC.
